Katherine L. Elrod

Katherine is proceeded in death by her husband of 52 years, Mr. JR Elrod; daughter, Debbie Hale Tucker; son, Charles Randy Hale; parents, Euell Ezell and Louise McCollum Ezell; siblings, Evelyn Ezell, Shirley Barnett, Hollis Ezell, and Wayne Ezell.

She is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Hale Stanfield (Scott); son, Danny Elrod; daughter in law, Nancy Gaiser; sister and best friend, Faye Leachman; grandchildren, Lisa Nash(Roger), Chris Black(Renee), Brittney Hale(Danielle), Star Barrett(Wesley), Michael Elrod; great grandchildren, Jessica Murphy(Michael), Megan Robinson(Herron), Nicholas Black, Devin and Hunter Barrett, Quynn and Charlotte Hale, Rayf and Mackenlee Elrod, Graham and Casey Nash, Drew and Tonya Nash, Konnor Schmitz; great great grandchildren, Toby and Kayleigh Mae, Knox and Elisabeth Robinson, Carter and Parker Nash, Cooper and Cameron Nash; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Katherine retired from Nantucket after 43 years and Cass High School after 5 years. She was a lifelong member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Rydal. She was an avid fisherman and spent many days at Lake Weiss with her family. She loved to cook and insisted on feeding anyone who walked through her doors.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Elrod’s friend and neighbor, Mr. James Childers, for always willing to help Katherine with anything needed. They would also like to thank Dr. David Kim for providing Katherine with the best medical care. Also, Transitions Hospice for their dedication to make this as easy for the family as possible and the members of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

The children of Mrs. Elrod would like to give a special gratitude to a few family members who helped with the care and showed unconditional love during some of the hardest days of our lives. These family members are Faye Leachman, Kathy Hufstetler, Carman Jones, Carly Drummond, Dale Ward, and Brandi Prather.

The family will receive family and friends on Friday, July 14th from 5-8pm at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr. Cartersville, GA 30120. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 15th at 2pm at Oak Hill Baptist Church on Highway 140, Rydal Georgia. Reverend Reggie Temples and Reverend Ricky Allen will be officiating. Sally Jones will be providing the music. Brother Jerry Dean Mulkey will be officiating the graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Chris Black, Brittney Hale, Jesse Hale, Carl Hufstetler, Wesley and Hunter Barrett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nicholas Black, Rafe Elrod, and Mike Wilkey.
