

Kenneth Wayne Moss passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2026 after a long illness. He was born in Bartow County on June 26, 1946 to J B Moss and Dorothy Faye Evans. He grew up in Atco, GA and became a member of Atco Baptist Church at an early age and later became a Deacon. He bought several old school buses and painted them for the church to start their Vacation Bible School. Ken also contributed to the building of the new sanctuary. In later years, Ken attended Oak Grove Baptist Church until his illness worsened, but he still could sing gospel songs while playing his guitar and enjoyed playing his harmonicas.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Michael, and his brothers, Tony and Rocky. Also, his favorite aunt, Mozelle Rutledge, with whom he loved to sing gospel songs.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cozette Hightower, his sister, Glenda Dial and his daughters, Marty Moss and Madarha “Boo Boo” Harris, his granddaughter, Katie (Dave) Bahten, his grandsons, Robert (Mikaila) Harris and Gavin Harris and his great grandsons, Samuel, William, Cannon, and Ryder, and great granddaughter, Addi. His stepdaughter, Kelly Breland and his step grandson, Haven (Becca) Lewis also survive.
Ken joined the Boy Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout which was one of the best times of his young life. He was more proud of that achievement than any other.
Kenny Wayne attended Cartersville Schools and graduated with the class of 64. He wanted to be a school teacher so he went on to West Georgia College. After much thought, he went to work with AT&T as a Cable Repairman and retired in 1997 after 30 years. Ken was a very talented man, who in his spare time, restored many antique cars and provided cars for the television series, “I’ll Fly Away”. He designed and built a 3000 sq foot A-Frame house and designed and built several Ranch style houses.
Owen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements with a visitation at Noon on Friday, January 30 and the funeral will begin at 2pm. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Kenny Jacobs and Josh James are in charge of the service, K. Ray Looney will sing and the Pall Bearers are Robert Harris, Gavin Harris, Dane Moss, Haven Lewis, Tommy Tuggle, and Parris Moss and Honorary Pall Bearer, Heath Bruce.
