Louise Smith Calhoun

Mrs. Calhoun was born on December 13, 1926 in Cartersville, GA, daughter of the late Lindsey Johnson and Viola Lanham.

Mrs. Calhoun was a homemaker and enjoyed tending to duties around her home. She also was an animal lover and had two special cats that were near and dear to her heart. She was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Max R. Smith and George N. Calhoun; brothers, Dick, Cliff, Henry, Fred, Earl and Glenn Lanham; sisters, Carrie Carnes, Mae Land, Marjorie Wheeler, Bonnie Hobgood, Pearl Tatum and Jean Wilson.

Survivors include her son, Sam R. Smith (Delaine); daughter, Joyce Smith Wilson (Lamar) all of Cartersville; step-son, Sam Calhoun (Becky) of Sanders, KY; step-daughters, Gail Bridges (Paul) of Nicholson, GA and Phyllis Barberino (Tony) of Buford, GA; grandchildren, Robbie Smith (Kim), Derrick Smith (Tosha), Andy Wilson (J.J.), all of Cartersville, Tina Mitchell (Joey) of Florence, AL, Jennifer and Le Ann Bridges of Nicholson, GA and Lindsey Barbino of Buford, GA; great-grandchildren, Anna, Nikki, Brock, Dustin, Austin and Preston Smith, Carlee Drew and Claire Wilson, all of Cartersville, Andrew Mitchell of Florence, AL; special niece, Joan Wheeler Bruce.

A Graveside Service will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Sunset Memory Gardens with Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating.

Serving as pallbearers are Robbie and Derrick Smith, Andy Wilson, LeRoy White, Jr. “Bud”, Paul Bridges and Reynolds Bruce.

Honorary pallbearers are James Pullam, Stewart Taylor and Mike Jones.

Visitation will be held from six o’clock in the evening until eight on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Owen Funeral Home.
