She was born in Cartersville, GA on April 21, 1931, the youngest of three children to William Henry Lumpkin and Margaretta Womelsdorf Lumpkin. She and her husband Bud enjoyed 30 summers in Blowing Rock, NC where she always had a lovely garden of flowers which she shared with lots of friends. For the past twelve years, Margaretta has been a resident of Lenbrook Retirement Community in Atlanta, GA. Her family would like to thank Carole Wheeler, Delia Frater, and Helen Rice who lovingly cared for her. There will always be a special place in her heart for Rubye Hardin. Their compassion and care were priceless gifts to both Margaretta and her family.
She was a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and true friend to many people. May she rest in peace. A private burial service will be held at the family cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 183 W. Main Street, Cartersville, GA 30120 or to Rumple Memorial Presbyterian, PO Box 393, Blowing Rock, NC 28605.
