Martha Louise King Mercer

Martha was a faithful member of Cartersville First Baptist Church. She taught Home Economics at Cass High School for 32 years. After retiring in 1983, she and her husband enjoyed traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and taking care of her granddaughter. In her final years, she was lovingly cared for by the staff at The Fountains of Cartersville and Manor Lake of Cartersville, Trinity Hospice, as well as her exceptional caregiver, Dana Lampropoulos.

Mrs. Mercer is preceded in death by her husband, William Andrew Mercer, her parents, and brother and sister-in-law Melvin and Louise King. Martha is survived by her daughter Andrea Mercer Clayton and her husband Chris, granddaughter Leanne Pyle and her husband Brock, great-grandson William Charles Pyle, step-granddaughter Beth Quisumbing (Todd), step-great-granddaughter, Katie Grace Clayton, nephews Paul King (Wendy) and David King (Janet), three great nieces Katie Curlee (Will), Emily DeCiantis (Seth), Mary Beth Hanse (Wade), five great-great nieces and nephews, her special friends Jean and Lowell Croft.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 29th of December, 2023 in the Lottie Moon Chapel of Cartersville First Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Barker officiating. The internment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with Chris Clayton, Brock Pyle, Paul King, David King, Tony Meadows, and John Appling serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lowell Croft, Mick Pyle, Will Curlee, Wade Hanse and Seth DeCiantis.

The family will receive friends from twelve-thirty in the afternoon on Friday, the 29th of December, 2023 until the hour of service at the church.
