Mary "Katie" Kate Mullinax-Simpson

Mrs. Mary Kate "Katie" Mullinax Simpson, 84, of Cartersville, GA passed away peacefully on December 25, 2019 while surrounded by her loving family. Katie was born on August 26, 1935 to the late Mr. Lewis Padgett and Mrs. Ethel Martin Padgett in Cartersville, GA.

Katie was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a devout Christian and was a member of Atco Baptist Church. She enjoyed working outside and was an amazing cook. Katie will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her first husband of 49 years, Mr. Wallace Mullinax, her parents, sister, Shirley Flowers, and brothers-in-law; Johnny Jenkins and John Flowers.

Katie is survived by her husband, Charles Simpson, two children, Danny (Li) Mullinax and Stacey (Jeffrey) Ginn, grandchildren; Alexander (Nina) Mullinax, Kayla (Tyler) Mewbourne and Matthew Ginn, and one great grandchild, Allie Mewbourne, and sister, Janice Jenkins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at two o'clock in the afternoon with the Rev. Corey Martin officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be: Alexander Mullinax, Matthew Ginn, Jayson Jenkins, Ronnie Messer, Kenny Martin and Griffin Padgett. Interment will follow the service at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Cartersville.

The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home Saturday, December 28, 2019 from five o'clock in the evening until eight.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Atco Baptist Church, Cartersville.
