

In 2020 Melinda received the Valor Award from Governor Sonny Perdue for rescuing a large paraplegic man trapped in a house fire. She worked for Cobb County Fire Department and 18 years for the Bartow County Fire Department where she was an E.M.T., one of the first Woman for Bartow County Fire Department. Though small in stature she worked her way to the rank of Sargent. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed collecting Fire Fighting memorabilia.
Melinda is survived by her Sons, Josh Jordan, Cody Black; parents, Wayne and Frankie Allen; brother Scott Allen; grandchildren, Brayden George, Johnny Jordan, Cesslie Black and Caybrie Black.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Dewayne McCrary officiating. The interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Zion Hill Baptist Church from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
