

Born June 2, 1961 in Danville, Kentucky, he was the second son and child of Rev. James Edwin Spaulding and Barbara Jean Bogie, both of Hustonville, Lincoln County, KY.
Micah was fortunate to have grown up in many wonderful places. His early years were spent in
Kentucky, attending kindergarten and early elementary school in Mt. Washington Elementary in Bullitt Co.; and finishing 2nd grade in Black Mountain Elementary, Buncombe Co., North Carolina as his parents were training to be Southern Baptist Missionaries of the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, in nearby Ridgecrest, before moving to the Caribbean and later Scotland.
He attended Queen’s College in Nassau, Bahamas; Bate Middle School in Danville, KY; St Andrews School, then St. Anthony’s Boys College in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, West Indies; Anderson County High School in Lawrenceburg, KY in 1976-77, after which the family moved to Aberdeen, Scotland where he attended the American School in Peterculter near Aberdeen. He attended Georgetown College in Kentucky in 1979. He then attended Clayton State in Jonesboro where he received his BSN. He earned a Nurse Practitioner degree from the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University.
He loved to travel, try new restaurants with his family, his faith, enjoyed outdoors recreation and his dogs. He worked as an emergency room nurse practitioner for many years in North Georgia.
He was proud of his Scottish ancestry and became a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, and was also a member of First Families of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1998, a nephew Nicholas James Spaulding in 2014, and his Lincoln County, Kentucky grandparents: Thomas & Agnes Mullins Spaulding, and William & Nora Brock Bogie, his aunt Debra Bogie Williams and a cousin Tamara Diane Williams in years past. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Voigt Spaulding, son Noah James, and a daughter Abigail Grace of Cartersville, his mother Barbara Bogie Spaulding, step-father Dr. David D’Amico, and a brother Timothy Spaulding, MD, all of Louisville, Ky,; a sister Linda Spaulding Westerfield (Barry) of Utica, KY and nephews William Henry & Jonathan Thomas Smith.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 22nd of October, 2022 at Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Jody Stancil officiating. He will be interred at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky along with his nephew Nicholas.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family for one hour prior to service time at Owen Funeral Home.
