

Mrs. Hightower was born July 21, 1926 in Letcher County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late George C. Miller and Maudie Gentry Miller.
She was a member of the Oakland Heights Baptist Church and retired from First Brands. After retirement she was instrumental in starting the Bartow County Senior Center, she was a 17 year volunteer for the Red Cross and was passionate about the Relay For Life.
Preceded in death by her husband, Blanton (Dud) Hightower, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Glenda Little, David and Diane Hightower, Hazel and Hubert Lee, Robert Hightower, and Earl and Lydia Hightower, all of Cartersville, her grandchildren, Derek Little, Lynn Gossett, Matthew Hightower, Taylor Hightower, Sarah Hightower and Anna Hightower, an honorary grandson, Jay Bryant, great grandchildren, Shea Little, Caroline and Maddie Gossett, one brother, Ernest Miller, of Euharlee, one sister, Lela Estes, of Dayton, Ohio and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Allen Miller, Dusty Miller, Bertha Martin, Jim Miller and Austin Miller and a son in law, Frank Little.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 6, 2012 from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Harris and Rev. Sammy Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery, near Euharlee.
Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Hightower, Taylor Hightower, Steve Shinall, Ronald Gore, Ronnie Hudson and Ricky Hicks. Honorary pallbearers will be Derek Little, Jay Bryant, George Estes, Charles Thompson, Ronnie Miller, Calvin Miller and Herbert Hightower.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 till 9:00 P.M. Thursday.
