Mrs. Dyer was born on October 28, 1918 in Gilmer County, GA, daughter of the late Joseph Herschel Harper and Alice Dora Withrow. She was a graduate of Brewton-Parker Institute and Shorter College. In the late 1930’s, she loved to Cartersville, GA, where she taught school. On February 5, 1943, she married Earl B. Dyer. They lived in Cartersville until 1957, when they moved to Decatur, AL, where she taught first grade. In 1963, they returned to Cartersville. Mr. Dyer passed away in 2005. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Cartersville.
Mrs. Dyer is survived by her daughter, Alecia, who lived in Washington, DC.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at elven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Heritage Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Tutterow officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
