Some of her fondest memories were the vacations spent with her family in Daytona and Ormond Beach, Florida, Jekyll Island & St. Simons Island, Georgia and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Jekyll Island was special as that is where her soon to be husband, Richard Warren, proposed on their 1948 Cass High School senior class trip. They returned there a few months later for their honeymoon.
Nell was a Christian who loved and served her Lord. In her younger years, she served Him as a Sunday School teacher, writing Christmas plays at Peeples Valley Baptist Church and singing in the choir at several churches. Some people may remember back sixty-five years or more her singing gospel songs at various churches and on local radio stations with her husband. A visit to her home would often lead to a visit to her floral room, which was a large bedroom, full of artificial flowers and ribbons of many types and colors. Having worked for three different florists, she continued this skill making arrangements and tying bows for many occasions for her family and friends. If you came at Christmas time you would find a Christmas tree in almost every room. One of her latest hobbies was spending hours coloring outlined pictures in coloring books. Sixty-five years or so ago she started a bicycle club called Wheels for her children and their friends. She also worked in the lunch room and office at Cloverleaf Elementary School. To add a little humor, her children and grandkids will always remember the pancakes. Finally, her children are grateful and blessed to have grown up not only in a house, but in a home. Those of you blessed to have done the same will understand.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ernie Padgett, Jason Padgett, Jeremy Padgett, Brantlee Padgett, Kenny Coates and Curtis Hart.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Affinis Hospice for the excellent care provided to our mother. A special thank you to mother’s nurse, Janice Bagley, for her friendship, compassion and care.
