Paul H Gebert Sr.

Mr. Gebert was born May 27, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late Russell and Lillian Hagan Gebert.

He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II and a graduate of Penn State University in 1948. He moved to Cartersville, GA in 1976 with Philadelphia Carpet Company and later retired with Shaw Industries in 1983 as Operations Manager, Contract Division.

Mr. Gebert was an avid tennis player and achieved state rankings from 1980 to 1998. Other interests included creating inventions of which he was granted seven patents. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cartersville, GA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Wirth.

Survivors include his children, Paul Gebert, Jr. and wife Linda of Dallas, GA; Dr. Mark Gebert and wife Veletta of Cartersville, GA; and daughter Sandra Gebert of Euharlee, GA; one brother, Rev. Don Gebert of Texas; grandchildren, Melissa Gebert, Paul Gebert III, Aaron Belcher, Markus Gebert, Kimberly Gebert and Lyndsay Gebert, all of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Madison Belcher and Gavin Wilkerson, both of Georgia.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 P.M. Friday, September 21, 2012 from the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Smith officiating. Private Family internment services will be held in Sunset Memory Gardens with military rites observed.

Serving as pall bearers will be, Paul Gebert Jr., Dr. Mark Gebert, Paul Gebert III, Brandon Wilkerson, Aaron Belcher and Markus Gebert.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Friday.
