Rayford Lee Taylor Sr.

Rayford Lee “Pops” Taylor, Sr., age 81, of Highland Circle, Cartersville, Georgia, passed away Thursday morning January 27, 2011 at a local hospital.

Mr. Taylor was born May 27, 1929 in Sexton, Alabama, son of the late Samuel Harvey Taylor and Julia Minnie Medares Taylor. He retired from Terminal Transport and Taylor’s Junk Yard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lucy Atnip Taylor; children; Deborah L. Taylor, Sandra K. & Dale Veach, Donna Raye Taylor and Rayford Lee Taylor, Jr.; grandchildren; Shannon & Allison Jackson, Christy Jackson, Charity and Chad Blackmon, Isaac Williams , Candice and Ed Searce, Robert Wilson, Caleb Taylor and Dylan Taylor, four great grandchildren, a special nephew, Paul Taylor, two brothers, William “Bill” Taylor and Jimmy “Nub” Taylor, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 29, 2011, from the Owen Funeral Home with graveside services to follow at 2:30 P.M. in the Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens, in Marion County, Tennessee.

Grandchildren and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 till 7:00 P.M. on Friday.
