Robert Lee Woody

Mr. Robert Lee Woody, age 83, of Cartersville, GA., passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016. Mr. Woody was born on April 5, 1933 in Fairmount, GA., a son of the late Robert Silas Woody and Nettie Allen Woody.

Mr. Woody retired from Seven Hills Trucking after 25 years of employment. He was a dedicated member of Friendship Baptist Church for many years. In his spare time he loved camping and working on old cars. There pretty much wasn’t a thing Mr. Woody couldn’t put back together; no matter where he was he always tried finding something to tinker with. Mr. Woody was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather; he will certainly be missed by all who knew him.

Along with his parents Mr. Woody is preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Monty and Ann Woody and one sister, Shirley Greene.

Mr. Woody is survived by his wife, Mrs. Evelyn McCollum Woody; three children, Terrie Woody Southerland of Cartersville, GA., Jeff (Angie) Woody of White, GA., and Shelley Woody D’Elia of Cartersville, GA.; step-children, Ellis Arnold and Wanda Silvers; one sister, Nancy Dean of Cartersville; nine grandchildren, Taylor Southerland, Trent (Becky) Southerland, Taci Southerland, Tanner Southerland, Vincent D’Elia, Josh (Becca) Woody, Jeremy (Kristen) Woody, Christy (Cesar) Vazquez, and Brittany(Mac) Cumbee; thirteen great-grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Sophia, Logan, Lyle, AnaClaire, Karson, Paisley, Joseph, Shauna, Raul, Elias, and Jonah ; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Robert Lee Woody will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, August 18, 2016 in the sanctuary of Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Cochran officiating. Mr. Woody will lie in state from 12:00PM until the funeral hour at Friendship Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens in Cartersville, GA.

The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 8:00PM on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Owen Funeral Home.
