Roy Clinton Tidwell

Mr. Tidwell was born July 1, 1933 to the (late) Willie and Josephine Tidwell of Cartersville, GA.

He was retired from Paga Mining Company. He had a great love of his country and served in the military as a corporal in the army. He was very proud of his service and enjoyed sharing his many army stories. He had tremendous respect for anyone serving in the armed forces. He was an avid gardener and could grow anything. Cooking the vegetables from his garden for his family brought him great joy. He was a wonderful old fashion cook and often gave advice to his children and grandchildren on how to prepare, freeze, or can food. He loved working in the yard and enjoyed being outside. He loved westerns and was a fan of John Wayne. He grew up listening to the Grand Ole Opry. He had a great love of music and always sang. Many precious memories were made with him singing with his children and grandchildren. He had a heart of gold and would always help anyone he could. He was loved by so many.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jessie Tidwell, Raymond Tidwell, JW Tidwell, Linton Tidwell and R. L. Tidwell; sisters, Rosie Ferrell, Ora Cothran and Ruth Lockridge.

Survivors include his children, Wanda (Tim) Crump of Euharlee, Angela Boyd of Athens, Darryl ( Kim) Tidwell of White, Jonette ( David) Greeson of Fairmount, Jo "Josie” ( Paul) Cousins of Kennesaw;

grandchildren, Jasen (Jennifer) Crump, Brandon (Alma) Crump, Cody Crump, Heather Crump, Carter Crump, Matt Jennings, Ashley Boyd, Corey Tidwell, Kayley Tidwell, Joshua Kelley, Jeremy Slaughter and Steven Thackston; great grandchildren, Timothy Kelley, Eli Crump, Sam Crump, Ava Grace Crump, Lyla Faith Crump, Jase Crump, Madilyn Crump, Heidi Crump, Clint Crump; sisters, Stella Lee and Shirley Craig; many precious nieces and nephews. He also loved four sweet dogs, Chanel, GiGi, Jackson, and Jr., who loved and watched over him diligently.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday, November 9, 2015 in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Shepard officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Cassville Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Jasen Crump, Brandon Crump, Cody Crump, Carter Crump, Corey Tidwell, Joshua Kelley, Jeremy Slaughter, Steven Thackston and Matt Jennings.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Hoyt Ferrell, Doug Ferrell, Jerry Tidwell, Greg Martin and Zack Knox.

Visitation will be held from four o’clock in the evening until eight on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Owen Funeral Home.
