Mrs. Ruth Holcomb

Mrs. Holcomb was born May 7, 1928 in Bartow County, the daughter of the late, Lee and Mattie Chitwood Martin and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She was retired from EZ Mills where she worked for 42 years, was past president of the Union at EZ Mills, was very active in the EZ Retiree’s Club, was a member and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxilliary and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J.D. Holcomb, brothers and sisters, Charlie Martin, Elma Satterfield, Jesse Padgett, Odell Barnette, Kathryn McDaniel, Effie Judy Payne and Willie Holt.

Surviving are her son and daughter in law, Eddie and Beverly Holcomb of Dallas, grandchildren, Eddie, Jr., and Kim Holcomb of Dallas, Brian Holcomb of Dallas, great grandchildren, Clayton and Nicole Holcomb of Tampa, Florida, Kyler Holcomb, Hanna Holcomb and Kailie and Lance Brown, all of Dallas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Clinton Green officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Claude Ellis, Kenny McDaniel, Huey Timms, Tony Chapman, Ricky Darnell and Larry Satterfield.
