

Mrs. Vera Vaughan Lipscomb, 88, died suddenly on Monday, August 3, 2015. Mrs. Lipscomb was born March 7, 1927 to James Abda and Lula Doss Vaughan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lipscomb was preceded in death by her husband, Will Henry Lipscomb in 2000. She was also preceded in death by five brothers: Theodore Vaughan, John L. Vaughan, J.A. Vaughan, Jr., James Oliver Vaughan, and William David Vaughan; and four sisters; Lossie Bowen, Adeline Baker, Mary Cochran, and Jo Pass.
She is survived by her son, Stanley Lipscomb of Huntsville, Alabama and daughter, Veda L. Hilton (James) of Cartersville; grandchildren, Vaughan Lipscomb of Huntsville, Alabama, Alisha Kennedy, and Drew Hilton (Ariel) of Cartersville, two great-grandchildren, and one step great grandchild. She is also survived by one brother, Frank Vaughan (Jean) of Cartersville and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Cassville High School Class of 1943 and she was an exemplary part of the patriotic and hard working World War II generation. She was a member of Wofford’s Crossroads Baptist Church and retired from the Cartersville School System as the system-wide bookkeeper.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Wofford’s Crossroads Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Keith Dempsey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, August 5, 2015 between the hours of 6:00p.m.and 8:00p.m.
Pallbearers will be Drew Hilton, Gary Lipscomb, Gary Thacker, Kent Vaughan, Frank Vaughan, Jr. and Terry Vaughan.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Wofford’s Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
