William Gene Murray

Mr. Murray was born on September 7, 1934 in Tiffin, OH, son of the late Elmer Murray and Florence Grieselding.

Mr. Murray graduated from Case Western Reserve with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation he worked for Boeing as a Design Engineer and then began his career with NASA, where he worked on Apollo projects 7-11. He relocated to Cartersville, Georgia with Union Carbide, where he retired. He was a very intelligent man and loved to work with his hands, building, fixing and tinkering with everything around the house. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf with his buddies and traveling to all fifty states in his RV with his loving wife of forty-two years, Shelvy Murray. He was of the Baptist faith and proud and active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he attended the Eagle's Sunday School class.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Murray; brother, Jim Murray; sister, Peggy Shaneyfelt.

Survivors include his wife, Shelvy Murray; son, William Terence Murray, daughters, Cristy Evans and Diane Martin; step-son, Ron (DeAnn) Cox; brother, Carl (Martha) Grieselding; sister, MaryAnn (Charles) Bartholomew; special brothers-in-laws, Fulton, Wayne and Winston (Gail) Rice; grandchildren, Hayden Martin, Lauren Clayton, Jordan Murray; three great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Will and Emily Cox; very special nieces and nephews, Justin and Jonathan Rice, Tina Hobbs, Tara Busse, Kay Barron, Jan Powell, John Rice, Joseph Rice, Dylan Rice and LaDonna Jordan.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at three o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 1st of October, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Don Hattaway officiating. Friends are cordially invited to a gathering immediately following in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Tabernacle Baptist Church.
