Adrian Mitu

Adrian was born on April 1, 1967 in Constanta, Romania to Ion and Monica Mitu. He is survived by his adoring wife, Barbara Bowden Mitu, their two children Alexander Benjamin Mitu and Carmen Nicole Mitu, and his parents Ion and Monica Mitu.

Adrian escaped from Communist Romania, with his parents, when he was 17. After settling in Canada, he finished high school and graduated from the University of Toronto with honors in Electrical Engineering. He started his career in Canada with IBM in 1991 as a software developer, and 4 years later was transferred to the U.S. He left his position as an Executive Director of Corporate Strategy at IBM in 2015 to join Dimension Data as the Vice President of Product Management and Strategy, where he remained until his death.

Adrian was an avid Sailor and enjoyed sailing with his family on the waters of Eastern NC. When he wasn’t sailing, he could be found biking, hiking or camping. Adrian traveled extensively in his short life; he wanted to see and learn about every country in the world…

Services will be held 12 noon, Friday, May 10, 2019 at St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 804 High House Rd, Cary, NC 27513, with burial to follow at Wake Memorial Park, 7002 Green Hope School Road, Cary, NC 27519.
