Andrew Walter Maholick

Raleigh, North Carolina – Andrew W. Maholick, 87, passed away on Saturday, October 7th, 2023. Andrew was born to Agnes and Walter Maholick in Berwick, PA. He graduated valedictorian from Haaren High School in New York City in 1954. After graduation he served in the United States Air Force. He received a Bachelor in Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1961 and a Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University in 1968.

Andrew began a career with IBM in 1961 that spanned 31 years in various aspects of digital data communication. He was proud of his four invention achievement awards and many conference presentations. Andrew retired from IBM in 1992.

After retirement he traveled extensively around the world pursuing his interests in ancient civilization and French Impressionistic Art. He enjoyed literature, music and art. He enjoyed all sports but was passionate about Carolina basketball as well as the Boston Celtics, LA Dodgers and Green Bay Packers.

Andrew is survived by his wife of 61 years, Susan Landskron Maholick, his son Paul Maholick and his wife Deb Fleisig, as well as his daughter Barbara Schafer Altman and her husband David Altman.

Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Monday October 16, 2023 at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Drive, Cary. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
