Barbara Lee Gordon

Barbara was a graduate of Norton School of Nursing in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a practicing RN at Norton Hospital in Louisville following her graduation and then at Valley Medical Center in Valley Station, Kentucky, for over 40 years. Her family and friends were the most important part of Barbara’s life, and she was strong in her Christian faith. She was a long-time member of Valley Station Baptist Church. She amused everyone to the end with her witty stories, songs and jokes. Everyone will miss her ready smile.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Gordon, of Louisville and her sister, Clarice House of Hilton Head, SC. She is survived by her brothers, Thomas Brimm of Georgetown, Indiana, and Robert Brimm of Bardstown Kentucky, and her beloved only child, Mark Gordon of Cary, North Carolina, along with his wife, Susan, step-granddaughter Gwen Mellows and step-great granddaughter Clara Mellows, both of Chapel Hill, NC.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Heartsfield of Cary, Morningside Memory Care of Raleigh, as well as the staff of Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh, for their loving care of Barbara during her final years in Cary.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 2pm at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Ky. Visitation with the family will be from 12 noon until the time of the service
