Barbara Allen Weathers

Barbara (Bobbie) Allen Mabee Weathers passed away peacefully in her sleep early Thursday morning, September 22 at The Retreat at Cary Assisted Living Family Care Home. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Barbara is survived by her husband of 69 years Clyde (Stormy) Raymond Weathers, Jr. The two met in Germany when Barbara worked with the Red Cross and Clyde was in the military serving in Army Occupation Forces.

Barbara is predeceased by her parents Elliot and Gertrude Mabee and survived by her daughter Diane (John) Johnson of Cary; grandson Ted (Leigh) Johnson and great granddaughter Eve of Morehead City, NC and granddaughter Bonnie (Gary) Rose and great grandchildren Jonathan and Becca Rose of Virginia Beach, VA.

Barbara worked tirelessly as a volunteer serving as a Girl Scout Leader for the same troop for 12 years and as a volunteer grade mother where she touched so many lives. She enjoyed playing tennis on the Cary City Team, bowling with her bowling league and playing bridge with her bridge club.

The family wishes to thank The Retreat at Cary staff for the wonderful care that Barbara received.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, September 25 from 2-4 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Transitions of Wake County 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or to Girl Scouts of America, North Carolina Coastal Pines 6901 Pinecrest Road, Raleigh, NC 27613.
