

Betty Perry Gibson (Nana) was born on August 1, 1933, in Sylvester, GA to Terrell Rainey Perry, Jr. and Edith Nance Perry (Gan Gan). She had younger twin brothers William Orlando Perry and Terrell Rainey Perry, III. She was the first grandchild of nine aunts and uncles who loved and doted on her dearly. She attended college at Huntington College in Montgomery, AL and then continued an internship for her Medical Technology degree at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Betty met and married Charles “Chuck” Ray Gibson, Sr. and the two of them shared an incredible marriage for 52 years.
Betty had three loving children, Ray Gibson of Lebanon, TN, Pennie Gibson of Cary, NC and Peggy Carroll (Tripp Winn) of Apex, NC. She also had two grandchildren, Megan Carroll (Bobby Marsh) and Blake Carroll (Emily B. Carroll) all of Apex, NC, whom were the lights of her life.
Betty enjoyed a wide variety of amazing jobs while holding down the fort when Chuck was in Vietnam due to his career in the Marine Corps. The family moved to Cary, NC in 1974 after retiring from the Marines. Betty and Chuck were instrumental in starting Life Experiences, Inc., a company that employs adults with disabilities. They also created the Harry M. Montgomery Golf Tournament that continues to be a vital annual fundraiser for Life Experiences.
Betty lived at Searstone Retirement Community where she was a very active member. She passed away peacefully on October 8th, surrounded by family, due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Searstone and Legacy Healthcare that helped to make her life so joyful and comfortable.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 600 Walnut St., Cary, NC on Sunday, October 30th at 3 pm.
