Our mother was a beautiful woman, a gentle, kind, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved family and was a true homebody. Her love affair with her husband, George, was a storybook romance of 66 years, setting an example for us all.
A prolific doll collector, she loved working doll shows and negotiating to buy the next great doll. She was also a crafty poker player, who could out bluff the best of them. She’s now reunited with her favorite poker team – husband George, brother-in-law Bob and sister-in-law Lorraine. We know they are happy together.
She is survived by sons George R. Nortonen and wife Janet, Stephen Nortonen and wife Erin, all of Cary; seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
We extend our thanks and gratitude to the staff of Phoenix Assisted Living and the Transitions LifeCare team for the loving care provided to our mother.
A Service of Celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2017, in the chapel of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh NC 27607.
