Carolyn Hunter Williams, daughter of Hazel and Earl Hunter, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home in Durham, North Carolina last Friday after a long life steadily improving her lot and those around her.
From a very humble beginning, Carole defied the odds to graduate from Marshall University while supporting herself. From there she never let life's challenges leave her without time, energy, and enthusiasm to help others in their own struggle to better their situation. She donated much of her professional time as a legal assistant to pro bono immigration work, was a guardian ad litem in retirement, and leaves a family who saw more of and about the world because of her encouragement and support. Her genuine good nature will be missed by her family and the caregivers that treated her so well in her final days.
She was preceded in death by husband Paul Williams, and brothers Charles (Jack) Hunter and Keith Hunter.
She is survived by her son Tim Stark, daughter Lisa Chandek-Stark and son-in-law David Chandek-Stark; step daughter-in-law Angela Demerle, stepson Joseph Williams and wife Mary Frances Williams, stepson Paul Thomas Williams and wife Jackie Williams, grandchildren Jessica (Williams) and Ryan Harte, Matt and Tara Williams, Tara Williams, Tyler and Katie Williams, Grace and Patrick Chandek-Stark, and great grandchildren Tinley and Lincoln Williams, Jake Walker, and Cooper and Wesley Harte. She is also survived by many good friends.
Funeral to be held at a later date.
Please, in lieu of flowers, honor her force in the world by doing something good for someone that needs your help.
