Claudia Bice Francesca Melle (née Negri), born January 21st, 1952, in London, England, ascended to heaven on December 12th, 2025. She was surrounded by her husband of 53 years, Robert Melle, her children, grandchildren and extended family.
As the second of four children to Italian immigrants Duilio & Carmella Negri, her family departed England for the United States in 1967, settling in the Bronx, New York. She attended Columbus High School, where, through a mutual friend, she would meet her husband and partner in life, Robert Melle.
Claudia and Robert married in April 1972, shortly thereafter moving to Putnam Valley, New York, to raise their three children, Jennifer (1975), Christopher (1976), and Andrew (1984). Her unconditional love of her children would be a hallmark of her life, as was her devotion to extended family and friends; her joy seemingly derived from knowing and observing the life arc of everyone in that circle (and many outside!) Her sense of humor, quick wit and countenance, combined with a British/Bronx brogue was disarming, and would assist her in the quest to know and understand those around her. Everyone was made to feel welcome - no exceptions. Truly, she would cheer for your victory and share your tears in defeat.
In 2005, Claudia left New York State for North Carolina, settling in Holly Springs. Here was where she experienced one of her greatest joys - grandchildren Robbie, Zachary, Isabella, and Ila Rose.
A homemaker by trade, Claudia was a natural administrator. She worked professionally in this capacity to help finance the hopes, dreams, and needs of her family - though this hardly defined her. Rather, she will be remembered for her devotion to family and friends, her love of English gardens and the natural world, and her faith in the ties that bind.
Claudia is predeceased by her beloved parents, Duilio and Carmela Negri. She is currently looking down on all of her family and friends and speaking to God on their behalf.
