Daladier Caroline Miller

Daladier “Dee” Miller passed away Monday, June 14, 2021, just shy of her 62nd wedding anniversary with Robert Miller Sr. He lost the love of his life, and we lost a loving mother. They met in their hometown of Jacksonville, Florida as teenagers. She was a loving mother and was proud of her eight children. She bragged about her grandchildren and couldn’t wait to show them off in person or by sharing a photo.

Politics and social justice issues were in her blood. In 1970 she went to work for John W. Gardner and the watchdog group Common Cause as they lobbied for the end of the Vietnam War and the lowering of the voting age from 21 to 18. For over 20 years, she was an Administrative Assistant for lawmakers at the North Carolina State Legislature and other state agencies. She was a grassroots North Carolina Democratic Party activist and organizer who was prolific at getting people to register and ultimately vote. She always took the time to encourage young people to be who they want to be.

She was a beautiful, intelligent, funny, and passionate person and will be dearly missed.
