Doris Ruth Wallace Shearin

Doris Ruth Wallace Shearin, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC following a brief decline in health. She was a native of Cary, NC and was the daughter of the late Charles Mack Wallace and Lula McKinney Wallace.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her devoted husband of 62 years, Robert Lee Shearin, as well as several brothers and sisters.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many and she will truly be missed. She worked for NC State in the Registrar’s Office and retired after 17 years of service. She volunteered for Rex Hospital for many years after her retirement. She also fell in love with Bingo, which became her passion.

Doris is survived by daughters, Gail S. Dupree and husband Kenneth of Lillington, NC, Lois S. Geuder of Lansdale, PA; son, Phillip Lee Shearin and wife Lyuba of Pinehurst, NC; special adopted daughter, Charlotte Hockaday; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles “Kenneth” Wallace of Washington, DC; sister, Maxine Wallace Huddle and husband Randy of Rural Retreat, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm on Saturday evening, June 11, 2011 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm on Sunday afternoon, June 12, 2011 at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC.
