Edith Merritt Kelley

Edith was born November 13, 1918 in Germanton, NC to the late Charles and Laura Pointexter Merritt. She was a graduate of Germanton High School and was employed as an office manager in a physician's office for over 30 years in Forest Park, GA. Edith moved to Cary in 1991 to be near family. She attended First United Methodist Church in Cary.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Kelley Jr.; daughters, Lorayne Kelley Bigham; and Nancy Kelley Sims; sisters, Mary Flynt; and Frankye Rutlan; and brothers, Robert and Bright Merritt.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacque K. Davis and her husband, Boe of Cary; son-in-laws, Dick Bigham of Charlotte; and Paul Sims of Franklin, TN; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11 am Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at a later date in Sherwood Memorial Park in Atlanta, GA.
