

Edward DaVerne Case, 84, of Raleigh, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at Wake Medical Center. He was born August 11, 1926 in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late DaVerne Francis Case and Loretta M. McClarity Case. He was a graduate of Blodgett High School in Syracuse and served honorably in the US Navy from 1944 until 1950. He married Gloria K. Edwards and relocated to North Syracuse, NY in 1956.
Mr. Case retired from New York Telephone/NYNEX as a Plant Staff Manager following 35 years of loyal service. Following his retirement, Edward located to Raleigh, NC in 1999 where his family currently resides. He is a member of the Verizon Telecom Pioneers Excelsior Chapter #98.
He is survived by his love wife of 60 years, Gloria, sons, Gary E. Case of Fuquay Varina, Richard B. Case and wife Terri of North Syracuse, NY, Kevin A. Case and wife Susan of Raleigh, Ronald M. Case of Raleigh, and Edward D. Case, Jr. of Raleigh; sister, Mary Teresa Case Newman of Hannibal, NY; five granddaughters; three great grandchildren; three cousins; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; brothers, Donald J. Case, Leo B. Case, and John F. Case; and sister, Loretta M. Case Waldron.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 1-3 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary. A Catholic Mass and Burial will be held at a later date in New York.
