CARY: Loving grandmother and supportive mother, Elizabeth Irene Hunter Mott, 79, of Northport, AL, passed away suddenly on May 4, 2012. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:00 am at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, NC with a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 am. Mrs. Mott was born on July 26, 1932, in Cary, NC, the daughter of the late Dr. John P. Hunter and the late Iva A. Schubert. Her husband Dr. Harold Mott and brother J. P. “Jackie” Hunter, Jr. preceded her in death. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. She met her future husband, Harold, while working as a secretary at NC State University.
In her earlier days in Tuscaloosa, AL, Mrs. Mott was active in the University Women’s Club and the Woodland Hills Garden Club. She enjoyed playing the piano, traveling, bird-watching, NASCAR and of course, Alabama football. Ecstatic to be a first-time grandmother at age 76, she loved visiting with her grandchildren, watching them learn to walk, talk, and sing, and admiring their artwork.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John H. Mott and Lisa A. Mott, and her precious grandchildren Anna Kathryn, 3, and Evan Hunter, 1, all of Indianapolis, IN.
