

Franklin Delano Ellis, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away on May 8,2026 . Born on October 29, 1936, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Franklin was the son of the late Clyde Tillman Ellis and Queen Vistie Snipes Ellis. Frank was married to Faye Dowell Ellis for 66 wonderful years.
Frank lived a life defined by dedication to his family, service to his country, and contributions to American innovation and industry. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, carrying with him a lifelong sense of patriotism and duty.
Following his military service, Frank built a distinguished professional career. He worked at Douglas Aircraft, where he contributed to the historic Apollo Program during one of the most groundbreaking periods in American space exploration. He later continued his career with IBM, serving in engineering and management roles, where he was respected for his leadership, technical expertise, and strong work ethic.
Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence Ellis, Virgil Ellis, Albert Ellis, Robert Ellis, Arthur Ellis, Earl Ellis, Pete Ellis, and George Ellis; and by his sisters, Jessie Grimm, Dorothy Hall, Clara Vespoint, and Margaret Mondozzi.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Faye Ellis; his sons, Scott Ellis and Gregg Ellis; his daughters-in-law, Heather Ellis and Susan Raffa; his cherished grandson, Matthew Ellis; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will forever treasure his memory.
Frank will be remembered for his quiet strength, intelligence, devotion to family, and the kindness he extended to those around him. His life touched many, and his legacy will continue through the family he loved so deeply.
