

He was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina on June 20, 1945 to Clifton and Selma Pratt. He was married to Gayle Alderman Pratt For 42 years. George worked as a land surveyor for Bass, Nixon, and Kennedy Inc.. He served in the U.S. Army, the Army Reserves, and the N.C National Guard.
He was an active member of Swift Creek Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, served on various committees, and was known as the unofficial “pie man.” He had a passion for his garden, fishing, tinkering outside, serving others, baking, Christmas, and most importantly, his faith and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle; his parents, Clifton and Selma; and his son-in-law, Warren Brannan.
He is survived by his daughters: Jeane and Leigh Anne (Jon), grandchildren: Lauren (Wayne), Chris, Haley (Patton), Madyson (Marcus), and Matthew, great grandchildren: Michael and Tatum (expected in July), a sister: Martha, a brother Dan (Jennie), nieces, nephews, and granddogs.
Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 pm at Swift Creek Baptist Church in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 10 am at the church, with graveside services to follow at Wake Memorial Park.
