Born with a passion for teaching and a heart full of generosity, Gerald dedicated much of his life to inspiring young minds as a 6th grade English teacher.
A proud graduate of Central Michigan University, Gerald’s love for learning extended beyond the classroom. He was an avid reader and a lifelong enthusiast of the arts, with a special fondness for Broadway shows, opera, and theater.
He treasured Sundays spent listening to the Texas Star Opera and cherished evenings attending the North Carolina Symphony alongside his late wife, Eileen Marquerite Zieman.
Gerald’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. As a devoted member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cary, North Carolina, he was an active participant in the church choir, sharing his voice and spirit with the congregation.
Known in his family as a “go-getter” and the “doer,” Gerald was always ready to help anyone in need without hesitation. His kindness was evident. Childhood days he would stop anywhere just to pick bricks from the roadside, embodying a hardworking and caring spirit.
Gerald Lewis Zieman’s life was marked by love, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to those around him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the kindness and joy he brought to the world.
Gerald is survived by his loving son, Geoffrey Keith Zieman, and wife Linda of Cary, NC; his daughter, Katherine Gorman, and husband David of Corbett, Oregon; four cherished grandchildren—Geoffrey Michael Zieman, Tabatha Moore, Clara Gorman, and Leila Torres; and three great-grandchildren, Monica Moore, Makinly Moore, and Jonathan Moore.
A memorial service celebrating Gerald’s life will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 600 Walnut Street, Cary, NC 27511. Family, friends, and all who knew Gerald are invited to honor his memory and legacy.
