

Howard Hayden Lewis, 71, of Raleigh and Emerald Isle, passed away August 31, 2017 in Durham after a brave battle against Myelofibrosis. He was born in Binghamton, NY a son of the late Walter and Dorothy (Benjamin) Lewis.
Howard retired from IBM after 30 years of service. He continued to share his wisdom as a consultant with many colleagues and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and was an avid NC State Wolfpack fan. He was a member of many organizations, Including the Emerald Isle Neighborhood Watch Association, Emerald Isle sea turtle protection program, and National and NC Wildlife federations.
Howard was predeceased by his brother James Lewis and his wife Lorraine, and brother William Lewis.
He Leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Sharon (Britt) Lewis of Raleigh and Emerald Isle, his children: Todd Michael Lewis and wife Kathleen Domaruk of Thomasville, PA, and Tracey Lewis Shannon and husband Edward of Cary, 4 grandchildren: Bradford, Victoria, Brooklynn and Hayden Shannon all of Cary; his brother Nelson Lewis and wife Susan of TX and sister in law Roberta Lewis of Southport NC.
The family will receive from 4-6 pm Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 200 SE Maynard Rd. Cary, NC 27511.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church 804 High House Rd., Cary, NC 27513.
