James "Jim" Thomas Krois

James Thomas Krois, 60, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013. Jim was born on March 30, 1953 in Port Chester, NY, to Joseph and Ella Mihalo Krois. He was raised in Greenwich, CT, but was proud to call North Carolina his home for the last twenty years.

Jim was a successful man in all respects that were important to him. He had a long and happy marriage with the love of his life, Paula, who preceded him in death. Most important to them were their two sons, Jon and Alex. Indeed, friends observed that the house slowly turned Carolina Blue after they started at UNC. Jim’s long, rewarding career with IBM allowed him to explore the world with his family, for which they will always be grateful. Jim was a compassionate, loving, optimistic man who shared that love with his family and his many close friends. He will be missed, but he will always be loved and remembered.

Jim is survived by his two sons: Jonathon Krois of New York, NY; and Alexander Krois of San Diego, CA; as well as his siblings and their families: Mary-Ann June and husband Ray, of Congers, NY; Joseph Krois of Greenwich, CT; and John Krois of Norwalk, CT. He is also survived by Paula’s family: Timothy Telman and wife Mary Catherine and their children Samuel and Jack, of Cape Cod, MA; Kathi Telman and her daughter Montana of Hamden, CT; Patricia Eileen Conforti Telman and husband Joseph DiChillo of Torrington, CT; and Thomas Telman and wife Debra of Torrington, CT. He is also survived by his beloved friends, including his longtime companion – his dog, Asterix.

The family will receive friends on Saturday morning, December 21, 2013 from 9:30am until 11:00am at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 3008 Old Raleigh Road in Apex. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am, with interment to follow at Wake Memorial Park in Cary, NC.
