
James N. Sommers who was born on February 24, 1926 in Summit Hill, PA passed away on June 20, 2017 at the age of 92. Jim was one of 12 children of Katherine and Patsquale Sommers. He graduated from Summit Hill High School in 1944. He married Eva Vrablic in Aug. 1950 and then served in the U.S. Army from 1950-52. The couple resided in North Jersey for 32 years. He retired as a construction mason supervisor. One of his last jobs was the construction of the original Giants Stadium. They then moved to Apex, NC in 1988. JIm has been a loyal NY Jets fan and was a season ticket holder since the origin of the then NY Titans to the present days Jets.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Eva Vrablic Sommers; his daughter Janice Sommers and husband Michael Koury; goddaughter Elisabeth Lange and her parents, Howard and Arlene Lange; grandchildren Lindsey Koury Esmaeili (Hoss) and Michael Koury; great grandchildren Carson and Cameron Esmaeili; goddaughter and niece Maryann Rickard; nephew Ed Sommers (Anita) and many other nieces and nephews that he held dear to his heart; brothers William Sommers and Alex Sommers (Liz).
Memorial donations may be given to the "Columbarium Fund" at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 100 Lochmere Drive West, Cary, NC 27518. The family of Jim Sommers would like to extend special thanks to caregiver Angie Price, the staff at Rex Rehab in Apex and Resurrection Lutheran Church.
