Janice Elizabeth Bean (née Prevette) of Cary, NC, passed away at 62 in the early morning hours of June 9, 2025, after a short but brave battle with interstitial lung disease. She passed peacefully and painlessly, surrounded by her immediate family and so much love.
Born in Raleigh, NC, on November 3, 1962, to Harry and Helen Prevette, Janice lived a life filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion to those around her.
She met the love of her life, Rodney Bean, while attending the University of North Carolina (go Tar Heels!), where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science and Medical Technology.
Janice began her career in 1986 at Raleigh Community Hospital (now Duke Raleigh Hospital) and worked her way up to Clinical Lab Manager. She loved her work and deeply valued the people she worked alongside. She was proud and honored to have served Duke Raleigh Hospital for 39 years.
Janice and Rodney were married on April 16, 1988, and raised two beautiful children together. Their lives were full of activities and sports, and it was through those communities that they met some of their most cherished, lifelong friends.
Those who knew Janice will forever remember her infectious smile and contagious laugh. She was a ray of sunshine, the life of every party, and a fierce example of unconditional love and loyalty. She especially loved her family, her friends, her dog Dexter, cruises, the beach, country music, baby animals, flowers, a good party, a dance floor, and cold beer.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Prevette. She is survived by her husband, Rodney; her mother, Helen Prevette; her son, Christopher (Samantha); her daughter, Ashley; her brother, Jimmy Prevette (Edla); and many beloved friends.
A private burial for immediate family and close friends will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Raleigh Memorial.
A Celebration Of Life will take place on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 2–5 PM at River Ridge Golf Club for all who wish to celebrate Janice’s life and share their favorite memories and stories.
