Janice Ann Tunstall passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on February 4, 1947, in Queens, New York, Janice carried her big-city energy with her everywhere she went. She was loud in the best way, wonderfully boisterous, and truly the life of any gathering. If there was laughter in the room, chances are Janice had something to do with it.
Janice worked for American Airlines at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, where she met the love of her life, Jay Tunstall. Their love story began among the hustle and bustle of the airport, and they were married in April 1976.
In 1977, they welcomed their son, Christopher Michael, who became the pride and joy of Janice’s life. In 1987, the family moved to Cary, North Carolina, where Janice continued to do what she did best, bring people together.
Janice truly lived life to the fullest. She loved to dance, enjoyed cruising the world with Jay and dear friends, and never turned down a lively game of cards, especially when she was winning. A true card shark, Janice played to win and made sure everyone had fun along the way.
She was always ready to open her home to friends and family, often with a warm welcome, plenty of food, and a perfectly mixed Manhattan in hand. Her home was a place of laughter, storytelling, and love.
Above all else, Janice loved her family fiercely. She is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Jay Tunstall; her beloved son, Christopher; her sister, Diane Tellier, and her husband, Ed; her brother, Raymond Deechand, and his wife, Patty; as well as her cherished nieces and nephews.
Janice will be remembered for her generous heart, her vibrant personality, and the joy she brought to everyone lucky enough to know her.
A simple gathering will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, located at 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC, 27511, United States. The gathering is scheduled for December 30, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. with a 3:00 Prayer Service.
