She was born in Birmingham, AL on June 26th, 1951 to Frank and Jean Albert, graduated from Shades Valley High School in Birmingham, and from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She married Joe Ritter in Birmingham on November 6, 1977 and enjoyed 46 years of a loving marriage. Jeanette worked as a paralegal, but the majority of her working life she pursued her love of early childhood education as a preschool teacher at Asbury United Methodist Church, Christ United Methodist Church, and Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC.
Sharing her passions with family and friends was important to Jeanette: her flower gardens were enjoyed by neighbors; handmade quilts were given with love to family, the quilting tradition passed to her granddaughters; genealogy was researched with love, teaching her family about the roots that are so important to understand and preserve; and always and forever proudly proclaiming Roll Tide, we knew Alabama was where her loyalties lay. Above all this, her faith was strong and she cherished her church families at Vestavia Hills Methodist in Birmingham where she was married, Christ United Methodist in Greensboro where she raised her family, University United Methodist in Chapel Hill where she began retirement, and finally at Kirk of Kildaire, Presbyterian in Cary.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her mother Jean Albert and her father-in-law Kelly Ritter. She is survived by her father Frank Albert of Birmingham, AL; mother-in-law Mary Ritter of Greensboro, NC; brother Sid Albert and his wife Connie of Bowling Green, KY; sister Jenna (Jeje) Hunter and her husband Mark of Black Mountain, NC; son Matt Ritter and his wife Mandy of Holly Springs, NC; daughter Melanie Feazell and her husband David of Pacific Palisades, CA; and her granddaughters: Savannah Ritter of Holly Springs, NC; Emmie Feazell and Ellie Feazell of Pacific Palisades, CA.
The visitation will be held from 12:00-1:30pm on Tuesday August 13th, followed by the memorial service at 2:00pm at Kirk of Kildaire, Presbyterian in Cary, NC.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian in Cary, NC or the Goathouse Refuge Cat Rescue in Pittsboro, NC.
