Jon was born in Vietnam in 1972 to Nay H’Keh. As an only child, Jon spent his days farming and tending to his animals. He loved to eat fresh corn and sweet sugarcane that he grew. He was a devoted farmer, growing crops and livestock to support his mother.
In 1990, he migrated to the U.S. to find a better life for himself and his family. It was during this migration process that he met the love of his life, Kim Nguyen Nay. It was by fate that they kept running into each other, first through the immigration agency, then at Sky Chef, then at Kellogg’s. It was not a coincidence that God kept bringing them to each other. They got married in 1994 and started their new adventure together.
In 1997, Jon and Kim welcomed their first child, Nina Nay, and in 1998 their second child, Simon. He also shared a close bond with his sister-in-law, Christina Pham, and cherished his niece, Vi Nguyen, who was like another daughter to him. Together, they spent much of their time as a family of six, creating treasured memories that will be forever remembered.
Jon continued his love of being a farmer in any way he could. He always had a garden full of fresh fruits & veggies and beautiful red roses, his favorite flower. He loved tending to his garden and helping it thrive and grow.
Everyone who knew Jon knew how much he loved the Carolina Panthers. We would always joke, every time you saw Jon, he would always be wearing something Panther related. And it was true. And regardless of how the team performed, he would always watch every game, rooting for them no matter what.
Jon will always be remembered for his strength. Through every trial and tribulation, Jon remained strong. Through countless days in the hospital, endless rounds of chemo, and even through losing his ability to walk, Jon kept fighting. His biggest inspiration was Bruce Lee. We will always remember him as the fighter in our family. He never once gave up on this fight and we will carry his spirit with us for the rest of our lives.
We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, father, uncle and grandparent, and will miss Jon every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Jon is survived by Nay H’Keh, Kim Nguyen Nay, Sarah Siu and her husband, Thuyen Siu, Nina Nay, Simon Nay, and his three grandchildren, Tina, Ria & Nari.
Jon’s service will be on March 1st, 2026 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, NC. His viewing will be at 10am, with service following at 11am.
