Joseph Mark Piechota

Our most beloved Joseph Mark Piechota, known as Joe or Joey, passed away unexpectedly in his Cary, North Carolina home on July 26, 2023, at the age of 62. Joe was born on January 19, 1961 in Olean, New York. He was the son of Francis and Shirley Piechota and the youngest of seven siblings.

Joe spent his childhood in Halifax, Virginia, received his bachelor degree from James Madison University, and spent over 35 years working in the computer science industry. Joe retired from a career of 29 years with SAS Institute, Inc. in late 2021. Joe was a kind, loving, funny, handsome and smart man. Joe loved most all sports, but truly loved the game of golf. He will be forever playing the fairways in the clouds above.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Virginia (Ginny) Piechota, brother Michael Piechota, sister Kathleen Piechota, brother Vincent Piechota (Sarah), sister Grace Wight (David) and sister Frances Stetler (Wayne). He is survived as well by nephew Ryan Piechota, nieces Ashley Piechota, Sarah Wight and Kelly Wight, great nieces and nephews and predeceased by brother Louis Piechota.

A private family memorial will held at a future time.
