He was born September 17, 1990 in Johannesburg, South Africa, a son of Paul and Belinda Kennedy Barlow. He moved to the United State In January 1998 when he was 7. He attended:
• Penny Rd Elementary School where, in 2002, he earned the Outstanding Academic Excellence Award under the President’s Education Awards Program (his certificate is signed by President Bush);
• Lufkin Rd Middle School where he was admitted into the National Junior Honors Society of Secondary Schools in 2003, and awarded other academic prizes, and
• SE Raleigh High School.
• Wake Technical College after attaining his GED.
Kyle loved soccer and played from when the family moved to Cary in July 1999 through to High School. He played on a Dream Sports recreational team (the “Angels”) and a CASL recreational team (the “Edge”). He also played soccer for Lufkin Rd Middle School and SE Raleigh High School.
The crowning achievement of his sporting life was winning 1st place in Sparring at the International Taekwondo Association (ITA) Regional Championships in Raleigh in March 2000, and 1st place in Sparring and 2nd place in Forms at the ITA National Championships in New Orleans in 2001.
Kyle loved his motorcycles. He had a need for speed and the thrill of the ride (and had the scars to prove it). He had also been known to land a fish or two while drinking a beer or two! And, of course, he loved his dog, Ziggy, whom he had rescued.
He was a loving son and brother. He wouldn’t let anybody mess with Sean. Outside his tough-man exterior, he had a soft, kind heart. (While he was growing up, he would throw paper airplanes to his mom carrying an apology for being naughty or disobedient.) His friends say he was a good, caring friend who always had their backs. He will be sorely missed by everyone who he had touched.
Surviving are his parents, Paul and Belinda Barlow of Cary; his brother Sean Kennedy Barlow of Cary; now attending East Carolina University in Greenville, NC (starting his senior year).
He is preceded in death by his Granny Mavis (Kennedy) and Pa Tom (Kennedy) of South Africa, and Granddad (Doug) Barlow and Uncle Steve (Barlow) of England. May they be united in happiness and everlasting peace.
Services will be private.
