

Louis J. Marotta, age 94, passed away on March 21, 2026. He was a resident of Cary, North Carolina. Louis will be remembered as faithful, kind-hearted, generous, thoughtful, and beloved by all who knew him.
Born on May 3, 1931, in Scotia, New York, Louis was one of nine children born to Luigi and Sofia Marotta. He graduated from Scotia High School in 1950 and went on to attend the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating in 1955.
Louis devoted many years to a steady and respected career in banking and finance, retiring from Bank of America. His work reflected the same careful, dependable character that shaped his life and relationships.
Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Bell-Marotta, and his late wife, Patricia Marotta; his son, Dr. Louis C. Marotta; his parents, Luigi Marotta and Sofia Marotta; his siblings, Joseph Marotta, Anna Marotta, Louise Marotta, Edith Marotta, Angela Duchane, and Gloria Mazzone; and his step-son, Michael Jaimeyfield.
Louis is survived by his brother, Anthony Marotta; his sister, Mary Starsiak; and many nieces and nephews; his son, Stephen B. Marotta (wife, Carol J. Marotta); his daughter, Lynn Ann Marotta; three grandchildren, Stephenie B. Marotta, Amanda C. Brunsman, and Ryan E Brunsman; two great grandchildren, Sofia Lynn Stone, and Niko Anthony Stone; three step-children; five step-grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren; and many friends throughout the Triangle Area.
Louis found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. He loved music and singing, enjoyed golf, and took pride in cooking. He also appreciated cigars and a great glass of Red Zinfandel wine—moments of relaxation that often became moments of connection with others.
A funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd., Cary, NC 27511. The family will receive friends 1pm - 2pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Wake Memorial Park in Cary, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Community Hospice and Palliative Care, 5111 Crill Avenue, Palatka, FL 32177.
