Marian was such an inspiration to her Macedonia UMC family with her bright smile and positive outlook.  I was truly blessed to know this beautiful lady.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

One of my fondest memories was from the couple of weeks that I stayed with her while my new house was being completed. I was working second shift and going to school at the same time.  She called me about 11:30 PM in a panic.  She was out of cat food and her Siamese cat would go crazy when hungry and cry all night long.  I bet I stopped at 15 different places that night trying to find the right cat food. I eventually found it and bought a few extra. We had a good laugh and a good night's sleep.

Marian and I both got sidetracked by life and were trying to get our degree from NCSU well past the usual age 20 something. My last challenge was a foreign language.  I tried French, Spanish and finally had to resort to the dead language of Latin.  Marian on the other hand was up to the challenge and completed 3 semesters of Spanish. Hooray for her.  She inspired me so much to keep trying and we both acheved a life long personal dream.

Despite her physical difficulties, she lived the live life all of us aspire to live.  Her smile, her energy, and love will be sorely missed by me and our family.  Susan Owens (Durham)

Marian was truly a "Profile In Courage" to all who knew her.

I remember Marian first as an energetic cheerleader in high school. Her enthusiasm seemed to exceed that of the players at times.

My second memory of Marian comes after she was stricken with MS. I was working at "Th Gym" at UNC-CH. I called her to invite her to have dinner with me. She described in detail the effects MS was having on her, and offered me the chance to skip our "date." It was typical of Marian that she cared more about me than she did herself. We enjoyed a good meal and a wonderful evenimg.

My "Aunt Marian" was a wonderful Christian woman who was the definition of peace that passes all understanding.  She has been a part of my whole life.  She took me to my first symphony and encouraged my love of reading as a small child.  I will miss her contagious laugh and our great conversations. We enjoyed the Harry Potter series together.  She loved a good cup of coffee, good chocolate and a great Reuben sandwich!  Aunt Marian saw God's blessing in everyday life and everyone who knew her saw her light shine.  I will always remember her legacy as one where no matter what this life has in store, our attitude should always be great!

Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.

I met Marian through a mutual friend, Shirley Sorrell.  Marian was a beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit.  She touched many lives including mine.  May God bless her "forever life", as she "walks" on the streets of gold with the Father.

Marian was the most compassionate, loving, caring, giving and forgiving person I have ever known. My prayers go to all that loved her as she had so many friends and an incredible family.

God gave Marian many blessings. The most evident one was that of positive attitude. In all our years together, she never complained of her disability. I know of no one who dealt with life as she did. She wanted to stay at her earthly home and the good Lord allowed her to do just that until He decided to bring her home. Marian blessed so many and we need to remember her example that Christ set for us. My family will have Marian in our hearts forever until we meet again. Shirley Sorrell
