Mary Eleanor Reilly

Mary Eleanor Reilly, 93, of Cary, NC; formerly of Stratford, CT, died Monday, October 8, 2012 at her residence.

Eleanor was born July 10, 1919 to the late William Shafer and Rosella Judge Shafer. She was employed for many years as an elementary school teacher at Nichols School in Stratford. Eleanor was a member of Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex, NC, having moved to Cary in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Reilly, her brother William Shafer and her sister, Anne S. Hopkins.

Eleanor is survived by her sons, John Reilly and his wife, Cynthia of Oakton, VA; and Thomas Reilly and his wife, Beth of Roanoke, VA; daughter, Ellen Harris of Germany; sister, Mildred Shafer; and 3 grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Eleanor's wishes, a small funeral sevice will be held on November 24th at Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Road, Apex, NC 27502. Inurnment will follow the service in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorials in Eleanor's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
