Mary Elizabeth Chappell Rigsbee, 87, resident of Spring Arbor, Apex, NC, died Thursday, September 8, 2011. She was born August 3, 1924 in Granville County, NC to Maynard Maine Chappell and Winnie Varina Davis. She spent most of her youth in Creedmoor, NC and lived most of her adult life in Durham, NC.
She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and husband James Leonard Rigsbee, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her sons, James W. Rigsbee of Darien, CT and John L. Rigsbee and wife, Paula, of Cary, NC. She is also survived by 5 granddaughters, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church in Cary. The family will receive visitors at the church after the service.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Greenwood Forest Baptist Church, or Hospice of Wake County, or the WakeMed Foundation.
