

Nancy Adele Coderre, age 62, passed away at home on Thursday July 24, 2025 in Cary, North Carolina after a brief period of declining health. Born on August 21, 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio; she was the daughter of the late Richard Coderre and Julia Viedt Coderre of Cary.
Nancy’s early years were spent in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota and later in the Columbus, Ohio area. In her early school years, she was involved in sports including Baseball, Basketball and Field Hockey. She also enjoyed Chess in tournament play. In 1979 she graduated from Upper Arlington High School in Upper Arlington, Ohio.
After taking a gap year, she attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she majored in Mathematics, Computer Science and Economics. While in Boulder, she played goalie for the University of Colorado Field Hockey team and worked in dormitory cafeterias. It was during these years that she learned food preparation and the joy of cooking for others.
After graduating from the University of Colorado in 1984, she moved to the Boston area to begin her career while also studying for an MBA at Babson College. Nancy received her MBA from Babson with high honors in 1986.
Early in her career Nancy worked for several technology manufacturing firms in accounting and financial management roles leading up to a position as a Senior Financial Analyst.
When her father Richard retired in 1990, Nancy and her parents jointly built a home in North Reading Massachusetts. She would share a home with her parents until her father passed away in 2023,
In 1995 Nancy joined a small accounting software company, ABC Technologies, as a customer implementation consultant and trainer on her company’s Activity-Based-Costing software. The ABC software required extensive customization and complex training of customer personnel to be useful. Nancy took the lead in these crucial activities, traveling to customer sites to work with customer accounting and IT personnel.
In 2002 ABC Technologies was acquired by SAS Institute, which specialized in statistical and business analytics software and was one of the world’s largest privately-held software companies. Nancy and her parents relocated to Cary, North Carolina where SAS is headquartered. Nancy worked for SAS for 23 years in roles bridging product engineering, marketing and customer support.
From 1995 until her retirement in 2017, Nancy traveled the world, visiting hundreds of sites of major American and foreign businesses and government organizations. To each engagement she brought a combination of deep understanding of software technology and accounting principles, a clear and engaging communication style and a relentless focus on achieving customer success. Her engagements with the customers were noted as “Coderre Cuddles.”
Her title at the time of her retirement was “Principal Technical Architect”. Her many contributions to SAS were widely recognized in SAS headquarters and at the many field offices she visited. She was known for opening her home and hosting many dinners for foreign customers and foreign SAS employees in training. In 2016 she was awarded the CEO Award of Excellence, the highest SAS employee award and given only to a select handful of SAS’s thousands of employees.
After retiring in 2017 Nancy was able to pursue her two passions: Travel and Cooking. She took many trips with her father Richard to destinations in North America, Europe, Asia and South Africa. These trips also allowed her to reconnect with friends and colleagues she had encountered during her many years of world-wide travel.
Having visited all six continents for work, she embarked in November 2019 on a long dreamed of trip to Antarctica. A specially equipped cruise ship brought her to the Antarctic mainland to view the frozen terrain and encounter its unique wildlife. Nancy became a member of an exclusive club… People who have traveled to all seven continents.
Nancy’s was actively involved in the Harrison Place community where she resided. She served for many years as Treasurer and on the landscaping and social committees. Her hospitality was highly regarded and she often shared her home for neighborhood meetings and other events. She organized and presided over an annual Christmas “Cookie Bake”, a cookie decorating event for younger neighborhood children. She was an enthusiastic, self-taught gourmet chef and was always on the lookout for challenging new recipes. She loved hosting elegant dinners and luncheons for family, friends, neighbors and SAS coworkers. She also was a dedicated lap swimmer at a local Cary gym where she had many friends.
Nancy also enjoyed spending time with her father Richard, enjoying their mutual love of Basketball, a sport she played in high school. A favorite event for them was the NCAA March Madness tournament.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Judy Coderre and by her sister Barbara Coderre. She is survived by her brother Harold Coderre and his wife Carol of Avon Connecticut, her nephew James Moyer and his wife Tracy of Avon Connecticut, her niece Kathryn Huber and Kathryn’s husband Chris Tarmey of Natick Massachusetts, and by 5 adored great nephews and nieces.
A memorial event is planned for family, friends, neighbors and former coworkers. The memorial will be held at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center in Cary North Carolina on Saturday September 27 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
