
Patricia Ann Dolan Cassidy, of Raleigh, NC, died July 17, 2014 with family by her side. Patricia was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 17, 1932. She was raised on Staten Island, NY. She was a graduate of St. John Villa Academy and St. John’s University. She worked for many years in social services on Long Island, NY before moving to North Carolina.
Patricia was known for her quiet demeanor, sharp intellect and quick wit. She was a voracious reader of fiction, especially mysteries. She thrived on spirited conversations about politics. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was particularly adept at completing those featured in The New York Times. She loved to travel and was able to visit much of the United States, the Caribbean and Europe. She lived in Paris, France for several years. She was particularly fond of visiting the beaches on the southern shore of Long Island, New York and along the coast of North Carolina.
Patricia will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her daughter, Erin Cassidy of Denver, Colorado; son, Sean Cassidy and his wife Jennifer of Cary, NC; grandchildren Siobhan Schairer, Caitlin Cassidy and Olivia Cassidy; sister Barbara Brennan and her husband Thomas of Selden, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Brown and Edward Dolan, and her sister Kathleen Chaves.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh.
