Randy, we will never know why you were chosen to carry a cross heavier than most of us will ever have to bear.  Despite your heavy burden, your optimism was not deterred.  Throughout your too-short time with us you kept on smiling and encouraging others to live life to the fullest every single day! In reading all of the thoughtful messages here, I am compelled to share some thoughts.  I think that we are all larger than ourselves.  By that I mean, I believe that each of us has an impact on every single individual we meet or interact with, no matter the size we may perceive it to be.  I also believe that careful consideration should be taken to make sure that our impact is received in a positive, helpful light.  In practicing this, time allows us to not have to think so hard about it and our reaction time is reduced.  My Uncle Randy had become a master and needed no reaction time.  He just knew what to say at the most opportune moment.  He could make you laugh no matter the situation.  He had compassion for life like no other I know.  His influence will be never be forgotten.  God bless you, Uncle.

I met Randy a few times in my life  when I visited my brother, John, in Raleigh, and when John and Randy stayed with us in Edina, MN, during their trip  to see doctors at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He was such a vibrant person and very enjoyable to be around. I deeply admired his bravery and  positive outlook. It should be an example to us all.  My sincerest condolences to his family.

I got to know Randy during our Complete Goods days at JD Horicon Works.  All of us in the complete goods department were like family.  Lot of good memories and fun times. Randy was a fun person to be around.  If you walked into a room and you heard laughter you knew Randy was close by.  He was a person who loved to laugh.  Randy and I graduated from the same high school (Dubuque Senior High School), although our paths didn't cross until our days at John Deere he was the person you saw in school with friends always around him, full of life and laughter.  Randy had a special spot in his heart for his friends and family.  He cared deeply for them and they meant a lot to him.  Randy is now at peace and there is no more suffering.  I know he is looking down from heaven with a big smile for his family and all his friends.  I am so glad that I got to know my friend, Randy.   Joyce Dollar, Beaver Dam, WI.

So sorry to hear about your Dad. 
It's hard to understand why those we love are taken from us so soon, but find confort in knowing you were a special part of his life.

My memories of Randy were those of a smart and funny guy who made it fun to work at Deere.  As challenges with his health grew, he faced each one with the tenacity and courage of a mighty warrior and I always admired that in him. His days of fighting those battles are over now and we can take solace in the fact that he is resting in peace. Now that our Heavenly Father has changed his role from warrior to guardian angel, I pray that He provides his family with the comfort and strength they need during these dark days and that they know Randy was a great person who will truly be missed. Every time I begin to get sad about your passing Randy, I think about something funny that you said or did and it makes me laugh.  I will miss that great sense of humor and story telling.  I will miss your bravery and positve attitude even when the deck was stacked way against you.  Most of all, I will miss your friendship.  God Bless you old friend.

It has been my great honor and privilege to be Randy's friend for the last 15 years. Randy's sense of humor and willinginess to help anyone and everyone was a great inspiration. He was a great friend, co-worker, and most of all a truly great Dad. I will miss you always my good friend.

Randy was one of my favorite people at John Deere. I have great memories of working with him, his sense of humor and kind smile.

Hearing of Randy's passing brought much sorrow to the Kochuyt house! Randy was a big part of our life when we lived in Cary. We shared many meals and many laughs together. Our kids still remember how he would answer our phone when a salesman called! He had a different, hilarious response for them each time!  He was such a caring person too, always quick to lend a helping hand or share a joke to make you laugh! His greatest pride and joy, though, were his kids! Doug and Erika, he talked about you all the time!  You are all in our thoughts and prayers! We love you, Mr. Randy!

My prayers go out to Randy and his family. Being teammates at Senior High scool was a lot of fun.  Randy always gave it his best and was a great competitor. Besides that, he was one of the nicest guys I had the privilage to meet. God Bless

I also played high school football with Randy and remember that in the huddle, he was always breathing harder and sweating more than anyone else because he was generally our main hope of winning. Never heard him complain about that or anything else. I'll remember him as a tough runner and a sweet guy.

Randy, I remember the first day I met you like it was yesterday.  I remember after your first surgery walking into the office and handing me your bluejeans because you were so proud of all the weight you lost.  I remember how you handled each and every event in your life with strength and such a positive attitude.  It amazed me with all the things you were dealing with your sense of humor and outlook on life.  I know that my friend Randy is now in heaven looking down on us and still wishing us the best.  It was an honor and a privilege to call you my friend.. Larry.

Randy worked for me several times while at the John Deere Horicon Works.  He was part of a wonderful team who worked hard for me and had a fun time doing it.  His friendly manner and quick wit fit in perfectly.  I am now thankful that he no longer has to fight the health trials he faced during his earthly life.

I was sad to here the news of Randy's passing.  My prayers go out to his family. I played football with Randy at Senior High, he was an excellent teammate, a great athlete and a nice guy you could count on.

I've worked with Randy off and on over the years and I was always impressed with his intelligence and articulation. Even with all he had gone through, Randy usually had a smile on his face and a joke ready. Randy, I will miss you. I know you are resting in peace.

Randy always had a smile on his face and spread a wealth of cheer to everyone he met!  I will miss him dearly!  So sorry for your loss, and know that you are all in our prayers.

Randy will always have a special place in my heart.  He and I worked in Complete Goods at the John Deere Horicon Works.  Our desks were very close together because of the lack of space.  He was always upbeat and had a kind word or joke for everyone he knew and worked with.  
My deepest sympathy to you his family.  I know it has been a long and hard journey for all of you.  He is at peace now.  May the special memories you have of him bring peace to you at this very sad time.

I met Randy during a meeting at Deere, when he was preparing to move to Cary.  He immediately set the tone for our ongoing friendship and business relationship with his easy laugh, thoughtful to-the-point questions, sharing of his knowledge, joy for life, and true respect for everyone around him.  He will be missed by many of us.  We are much richer for having known Randy.

I had the good fortune of working closely with Randy at Deere from approximately 2006 to 2009.  What a wonderful guy.  I so admired his courage and positive outlook as he dealt with his health issues.  He loved his family, his work, and his friendships.  He will be greatly missed.  John Addison, Beaver Dam WI.

Randy you were a good friend.  Events last week and this evolved exactly as you had wanted.  Surrounded by family you were loving passed into God's arms.  Your final arrangements will be executed as you wished.  Your plan has come together.  We will celebrate your life as you wanted. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard but always there. So sorry for you loss.

I will never forget the first time I met Randy (one of the best friends of one of my business partners - John Carson). When my good friend CJ Atkinson was overseas serving our great county in Iraq in 2010, I sent out an email to the other folks in my office to request they bring in any DVDs that I could send along with a Care Package I was sending to CJ and his fellow soldiers. John forwarded this message to Randy, who had been battling a brain tumor for quite some time and been given a dire prognosis. The next day, there was a knock on my office door and in walked Randy carrying a few boxes of over 40 DVDs that he wanted to send to CJ and the troops. Here was a guy that I had never even met before, fighting for his life, and wanting to help out other folks he had never met before serving our great country in harm's way. He said it was in honor of his son who had also served in the Armed Forces overseas and he knew what a great morale booster this could be. I was able to hold it together why he was in my office, but as soon as he left I was moved to tears by such a genuine and noble gesture. R.I.P. Randy, I knew you for a brief period of time, but you certainly had a positive impact on my life and I am sure an impact on numerous soldiers around the world. You will be missed...
